acousmatic composition and sound creation course 2024

Imaginary / natural / electroacoustic spaces
Abbaye de Lanvaux - 7 to 13 July 2024

A course held by Denis Dufour, Vincent Isnard & Laurent Isnard
With guests Yejin JOUNG, Ruth Matarasso, Jasmine Scheuermann and Sophie Glanddier.

Organised in the form of a master class, this residential course in acousmatic composition and sound creation is open to composers of all levels and ages who wish to work on and finalise a work in progress, or even almost completed before their arrival. The aim is to rediscover the sound spaces that are conducive to musical creation: natural, imaginary, perceptive, acoustic and electroacoustic.

Individual and group listening and work sessions are organised to identify needs in relation to the intentions and construction of the work. This work is carried out under the tutelage of composer and teacher Denis Dufour.

Workshops are also offered to develop the sound spaces specific to each composition. A workshop focusing on listening will be organised by sound artist Laurent Isnard around the concept of "acousmatic massages". A workshop on spatialization techniques and associated psychoacoustic phenomena will be given by Vincent Isnard, a researcher in auditory neuroscience and a computer music producer. An acousmonium will be available to showcase the works worked on during the course.
